Wax is ideal for precise waxing in small areas, like brows and the upper lip. The downside is that there is an increased risk for broken hairs on large services, like arms and legs, that may cause irritation and ingrown hairs. We recommend getting waxed every 3-4 weeks.

Sugar is ideal for brazilians, large areas and sensitive skin. The sugar paste does not adhere to skin and easily comes off with warm water which minimizes skin irritation and reduces risk of injury when removing hair from sensitive areas. The downside is that it is not as precise as traditional wax. We recommend getting sugared every 4-6 weeks.

In short, wax is ideal for precise facial hair removal and sugar is most effective on large and/or delicate surfaces. For both wax & sugar, it can take 2-4 visits to get all your hair on the same cycle, so some short hairs will be left behind until then. If you are consistent, your hair will thin and may completely disappear over time.

If you aren’t sure which one to choose, don’t worry! Your esthetician will help determine what will work best for you.

What’s the difference between wax and sugar?

so…Why are the prices different?

Our prices reflect the timeliness and ease of the service based on the opposing strengths and weaknesses of wax and sugar, as well as the size, location, safety and time required for the desired treatment area. We design our prices so the best option is also the cheapest one.

For example, a brow appointment using wax is cheaper than one using sugar because wax is much better at adhering to and removing fine facial hair, which means the service is faster, requires less materials and minimizes skin irritation while getting the best results possible. Sugar brazilians are less expensive because it is much safer for the skin—there is an extremely reduced risk of injury because the sugar paste does not adhere to the skin, can come off easily with warm water and is not hot. Additionally, sugar minimizes the likelihood of broken and ingrown hairs because the paste pulls hair out in the same direction that they would fall out naturally.

In short, we want your appointment to be easy so we have modified our prices so you save some money while ensuring your skins health and safety. Sugar is ideal for large and delicate areas because it is more gentle and can be removed easily, wax is great for small and precise areas because it adheres to every hair it touches.
